The Beat Project was formed in May 2002 and is a charitable company registered with the Charities Commission.

The charity is based in its own training centre in Sittingbourne, Kent but provides its services throughout the South East and Wales.

It is very diverse, working with many individuals, organisations (both statutory and voluntary), groups and communities to tackle inequality, social exclusion, improve standards of basic education and increase opportunities for all (in particular disadvantaged young people) through setting up and facilitating a wide range of initiatives based around music and the creative arts.

Participants will gain greater self-confidence and a range of skills both technical and social as a result of their involvement in the project.

They may discover hidden talents and perform, move into work or further training or find interests to pursue in their leisure time.

For some people, this may divert them from crime or anti-social behaviour.

Beat Project activities include work experience, projects, workshops and long term community development partnership programmes incorporating arts activities such as film making, rock & pop, urban arts, drama and multi cultural music projects.

The Beat Project is proving to be extremely successful having already won two reputable awards and establishing itself as a caring, dynamic and professional but down to earth organisation that has a unique approach to youth and community development.

The organisation uses its own professional tutors who have undergone a Beat Project induction period and are fully enhanced police checked. They specialise in one or more subjects and are hand picked for their communication skills, enthusiasm and professionalism.
