Strategic aims and strands
The Beat Project has delivered its exceptional range of services to many individuals and communities since May 2002. Since its conception, The Beat Project has evolved from a local charity to one that delivers long-term community development and youth and community arts programmes across Kent and Medway and other areas of the South East. As a creative and forward-thinking organisation, The Beat Project continues to streamline its operations by implementing new services with established partners and successfully securing new and longer term funding with partners to establish itself as leaders in its field. We are now focusing on areas that are thriving including: outreach development; working with young people at risk; and health and equality targeted projects with specific groups of young people such as young parents, looked after children and those on the fringes of our society and education. All this and new and longer term ventures, such as our unique Arts Café and innovative Dance, Dig and Diet programme, together with recruiting new staff and tutors, implementing new work flow management systems go towards implementing a new more strategic and focused approach to our work. To achieve and encapsulate this aim we have developed a number of strategic strands which, over time, will become specialist services with their own dedicated staff in control over of funding and development. In line with this, we are mindful that The Beat Project's individual ethos and style remains strong and continues to be the underlying foundation of our work under the careful guidance of The Beat Project Management and Directors. The strands are: Community Health, Inter-cultural Relations, Safer Communities, Outreach and Community Development, Education and Training and Other Programmes. Our future work will be focused within one of these strands and each will be developed to its full capacity alongside The Beat Project, which will offer its many years of experience and skills to support new organisations and community initiatives to start up and thrive. Eventually, we aim to make The Beat Project a hub of good practice and leadership whilst retaining its commitment to social development for all.
